Planning application submitted for a carport and levelled driveway in Godalming.  The client’s brief for the project was to replace an old, substandard garage building with a modern carport.  The existing parking situation is poor with a ramp to the road, meaning that the kerb hits the skirt of the car when entering and exiting the garage.

Archetype Central has designed an open sided carport with timber posts, traditional pitched roof, fascias and soffits.  We have incorporated cedar shingles for a modern twist.  To address the issue with the ramped access, we have designed a newly levelled access on to the road.  In raising the level of the drive, we had to alter the steps leading into the rear garden.  This gave us the opportunity to bring the steps up to safe and modern standards.

The carport sits comfortably in the streetscene, nestled between buildings and is certainly an improvement in visual terms!

This carport provides the client with the piece of mind that off-street parking give you.  Except now, they won’t have to worry about damaging their car!  For now, we just need to sit tight and wait for the application to be determined.
