18 August 2025Big things are on the horizon for a family home in Godalming. Archetype Central has recently submitted a planning application to Waverley for a project that brings together three exciting types of home extensions: a two storey extension, a ground floor link extension, and a garage conversion.
If approved, the result will be a home that feels spacious, practical, and ready for modern family life.
The Two Storey Extension
The design adds living space across two floors. Upstairs, it will create room for a large bedroom, while downstairs it will provide more a open, flexible living areas, together with a utility room and study. This kind of home extension is perfect for families who want space to grow without giving up their garden.
The Ground Floor Link Extension
The link extension connects the existing rooms and creates a smooth flow through the house. By tying everything together, the link extension will transform the layout into something open and welcoming.
The Garage Conversion
Also in the planning application is a garage conversion, to be connected by the link extension, turning underused space into something much more valuable. However the family chooses to use this space, this conversion adds versatility and makes sure every square foot works hard.
Why Home Extensions are a Smart Choice in Godalming
Godalming is full of character homes, but many were built with layouts that don’t match today’s lifestyles. Home extensions let you keep the charm while adapting your property for the future. With careful planning, you can add space, light, and functionality — and increase your home’s value along the way.
Looking Ahead
This project is at the planning stage right now, but if approved, it will show just how transformative home extensions can be. A two storey extension, link extension and garage conversion will combine to create a family-friendly home that’s designed for modern living.
