The client required an extension to the existing residential dwelling, a Grade II listed building.  The brief was to create a new ground floor extension providing a bedroom/study with an ensuite. Due to its statutorily protected status, we needed to observe various requirements. The spare crittle windows (provided by the client) were to be reconditioned and used in the extension. Additionally, the type of external finish was vital to ensure that it blended architecturally with that of the existing house, incorporating various features.  The snapped header brickwork and decorative arches to the heads of the windows are examples of this.

All drawing work and the Design, Access and Heritage Statement were produced by Archetype Central Architectural & Planning Services and submitted to Chichester District Council.  The development required two applications: a householder planning application and an application for listed building consent.  Upon approval of these applications, we prepared the Building Regulations application for submission to Building Control.
